UK Poultry and Poultry Meat Statistics - October 2016
Key points
This release shows the latest monthly information on poultry statistics, including hatchery output, slaughtering and meat production volumes. The key results for October 2016 in comparison to October 2015 are given below:
- UK commercial layer chick placings were up by 14% to 4.2 million chicks.
- UK broiler chick placings were up by 1.7% at 97.9 million chicks.
- Turkey chick placings were down by 6.2% at 1.0 million chicks.
- Turkey slaughterings were down by 10% at 1.9 million birds.
- UK broiler slaughterings were 3.4% higher at 95.8 million birds.
- Total UK poultry meat production was 181 thousand tonnes, up 2.9%.
