In week ended 23 September, the overall deadweight cattle price average continued its upwards trajectory. Further falls for liveweight lamb

Liveweight lamb prices have fallen for the third consecutive week as numbers coming to the market have risen. In the week ended 28 September, the GB SQQ has fallen to 170.19p/kg, down 5p on the previous week. This has followed a higher number of lambs coming to liveweight markets. However, sharper falls at this time last year mean that the this year’s price is now 26p higher than the same week last year. Prices actually rose at the beginning of the week, but soon began to fall again, with the GB SQQ on Wednesday 28 September being down 5p on the week at 167.0p/kg.
