Cattle trade holds steady as January draws to a close
The first month of 2016 has seen cattle prices continue on the downward trajectory which began towards the end of November of last year. For the week ended 30 January it appears that the post-Christmas lull is continuing to prevent any upward price pressure from entering the market. The overall prime cattle price was down marginally on the week, at 328.3p/kg.

Lamb trade remains firm
The strengthening of the GB lamb market continued in the latest week, with the liveweight SQQ up by nearly 4p at 181.5p/kg for week ended 3 February. Furthermore, prices increased as the week progressed, with the average for Wednesday 3 February reaching 184.6p/kg, up 10p from a week before. Before the weekend, prices were actually down on the previous week but the trade bounced back from Monday onwards.
