AHDB Cattle and Sheep Weekly - 19 October 2015
Cattle trade comes back
In week ended 10 October deadweight cattle prices came back across the board on the week earlier.
At 32,300 head AHDB estimates suggest that the number of cattle processed was up 500 head on the week, although they were, for another week, behind throughputs in the corresponding week last year. The GB prime cattle average price was back 2p on the week earlier at 347.7p/kg, consequently losing the ground gained during September.
Lamb market eases back
Having bounced back last week, liveweight lamb prices have reverted onto a downward trend in the latest week.
In week ended 14 October the GB SQQ averaged 142.7p/kg, 5p down on the week earlier. This easing was despite prices remaining higher on Thursday and Friday of last week.
