Shell Eggs Broken Up 9 Percent from Last Year
December 2013 contained 22 weekdays (including 1 holiday) and 4 Saturdays.
December 2014 contained 23 weekdays (including 1 holiday) and 4 Saturdays.
Shell eggs broken totaled 188 million dozen during December 2014, up 9 percent from December a year ago, and 3 percent above the 183 million broken during the previous month.
During calendar year 2014 through December, shell eggs broken totaled 2,262 million dozen, up 6 percent from the comparable period in 2013. To date, cumulative total edible product from eggs broken in 2014 was 2,924 million pounds, up 6 percent from 2013.
