Meat Processing Industry in the Netherlands The Dutch meat-processing industry comprises around 100 companies and has a turnover of €1 billion a year excluding bacon production according to the 2010 Livestock, Meat and Eggs in the Netherlands report from the PVE. High Levels of DDGS Affect Pig Meat Quality Distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) had little effect on loin quality but did decrease belly quality, bacon processing characteristics and fat stability, according to Leick and co-authors. Ractopamine had no negative effects on these characteristics and does not interact with DDGS.
