Dunbia Executives Reappointed to Agri Food Strategy Board

UK – Northern Irish Dunbia Deputy Group Chief Executive, Tony O’Neill has been reappointed as Chair of the Agri-Food Strategy Board for a further two year term.

Group Chief Executive Jim Dobson has also be reappointed to the Board.

Speaking following the appointment, Mr O’Neill said: “The decision by the two Ministers to re-appoint myself and the other industry members of the Agri-Food Strategy Board is very welcome and represents a continued commitment by the Executive to the local agri-food sector.

“We were originally tasked with producing a vision and strategy for the agri-food sector moving forward, and this announcement means that we now have the opportunity, working with both industry and Government, to implement that strategy.

“Agri-food is Northern Ireland’s most successful industry, and a major contributor to the growth of our local economy.

“Our strategy, Going for Growth, outlines challenging but achievable targets, and we believe that by working together across the agri-food industry, we will strengthen and growth the entire sector even further.

“Moving forward, the Board will be engaging with industry across the agri-food sector to progress our vision of an integrated supply chain.

“We will lead on the recommendations within Going for Growth which fall to industry, and we will continue our engagement with the Executive, examining and advising on the actions being delivered by its Departments and Agencies.

“This will include working with DARD to develop the mechanisms for delivery of the Farm Business Improvement Scheme, worth up to £250m, for which we secured political support, and working with DETI on issues such as marketing and promotion of Northern Ireland as a high quality food brand.

“We will also continue to work with the Executive on wider issues effecting the sector such as access to finance, sustainability and ensuring we have appropriately skilled people in place to secure the future growth of the agri-food industry.”
