Dunbia Partners with Young Farmers

UK – Northern Irish meat processor Dunbia has become the Young Farmers Clubs of Ulster (YFCU) Agri Events Partner.

To launch this new partnership, Dunbia invited members from YFCU’s Agriculture and Rural Affairs committee to visit its headquarters at Granville, Dungannon.

Members had the opportunity to tour the factory and see the full “farm to fork” process, with a tour which began in the primary production, moved into the boning hall and finished in the retail packing facility where product is packed, labelled and distributed to some of the top retailers in the UK.

Dunbia is one of the UK’s leading meat processors, handling beef, lamb and pork for national and international markets at 13 sites across the UK and Ireland.

They have built their business on a partnership approach, developing long-term relationships with retailers and farmers, many of whom have been supplying Dunbia for years.

Speaking at the launch of the YFCU partnership, Dunbia Deputy Chief Executive, Tony O’Neill said: “Dunbia has worked with YFCU in a range of activities over the years. Becoming the YFCU’s Agri Events partner is a reflection of our partnership approach to all our business and offers both Dunbia and YFCU the opportunity to implement a range of relevant and educational agri events which will benefit members, many of whom are Dunbia suppliers.”

The Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster CEO, Michael Reid, spoke about the great opportunities for YFCU as result of this partnership: “YFCU is delighted to have Dunbia on board as our Agri Events partner. This valued relationship will give us the opportunity to grow and to gain insight on the work done at Dunbia and to expand their understanding of important Agricultural Issues.”

YFCU will be organizing a range of agri events with Dunbia in the coming months, such as a Grassland visit and a new judging competition ‘Live to Dead’ which will test members on how they grade animals, lamb and beef, both before and after they are processed by Dunbia.
