Harper Adams Students Graduate from Meat Management Course

08 October 2014

UK - The latest students to complete the PgC Meat Business Management course at Harper Adams University have now graduated.

A ceremony took place at the Butcher's Hall in London, where the students were presented with their certificates from Master of the Worshipful Company of Butchers, Nick Anstee, and Harper Adams Vice-Chancellor, Dr David Llewellyn.

The course aims to provide staff from the meat industry with the knowledge and skills required to increase the effectiveness, efficiency and profitability of their employers' businesses and to develop their own career potential within the meat industry.

Dr Llewellyn said: “Harper Adams is delighted to be able to graduate students from the second and third cohorts of the Postgraduate Certificate course in Meat Business Management.

“The course was designed to support the UK’s meat industry by providing a route to postgraduate qualification for graduates entering the industry and experienced non-graduates alike.

“Given the nature of our institution, Harper Adams has a long and obvious association with the animal production and meat processing sectors.

“It is particularly pleasing that as we have moved into the delivery of courses tailored specifically for the meat industry, this has brought us much closer to both the industry and the Worshipful Company of Butchers.”

The graduating class included Aled John, Wesley Sims, John Murphy, Alistair Lyle, Bryan Gallagher, Stuart Clarke, Jefferson Da Silva Nascimento, Jamie Durrant, James Barker, and Paul Stead. Steffen Hille, Heather Mackey and Fernando Gutierrez, Anna-Sophia Lauritzen and Rohan Perera also completed the course, but were unable to attend.

The course covers subjects such as operations management, food quality management, food safety management, and supply chain management.
