Peru Officials Visit Cattle and Poultry Plants

29 August 2012

ARGENTINA - Officials from the National Health Service in Peru have completed an inspection of beef and poultry processing plant in Argentina to certify the plants for export.

Following the inspection a meeting took place at the Headquarters of the National Health Service and Food Quality (SENASA) in Argentina to confirm a system of equivalence in the biosecurity of the plants and to facilitate trade between the two countries.

"It is important to advance a system of equivalence between both countries to facilitate trade, in order to ensure the safety and quality of food that reaches consumers in the region," said the coordinator of International Relations Senasa Argentina Leonardo Mascitelli.

While in the country, the Peruvian delegation audited two beef manufacturing plants - one in Buenos Aires and one in Villa Governor Gálvez, Santa Fe, and also a poultry meat establishment in San José, in the province of Entre Rios.
