Multivac Stand-alone Conveyor Systems

06 March 2012

GERMANY - Multivac is extending its portfolio of conveyor systems for pack converging with the addition of two stand-alone versions, which can be retrofitted to Multivac thermoforming packaging machines or to those produced by other manufacturers.

Multivac already has several types of integrated conveyor systems in its product range. With the Multivac conveyor systems, the packaging specialist from the Allgäu can offer its customers complete solutions for packing and converging.

Within the packaging process the Multivac conveyor systems (MBS) perform a variety of pack infeeding, discharging and separating functions after the packaging procedure.

So that customers can also in future retrofit these to their packaging machines, Multivac has extended its product range with two stand-alone versions: the MBS 120 and 220 are equipped with a separate IPC 02 machine control and they work independently of upstream or downstream systems.

The two conveyor systems can therefore be used and retrofitted particularly flexibly within existing packaging solutions. Their machine control can be synchronised with that of the thermoforming packaging machine.

The two MBS 120 and 220 conveyor systems are suitable for pack converging after the packaging procedure, as well as for the ejection of reject packs. They can be extended from two up to six lanes and are able to converge up to 80 or alternatively 140 packs per minute. The conveyor systems are equipped with change cassettes with hygiene-compatible rubber belts for easy format conversion.

Both stand-alone versions are equipped as standard with a blue ThermoDrive feed conveyor from Intralox, which is particularly suited for hygienic applications in the food processing industry. The guided side belts ensure a controlled converging process.

Both stand-alone versions are designed for pack ejection on an individual lane basis and this is carried out by the retraction conveyor. As with all Multivac machines, the conveyor systems are designed in the Multivac Hygiene Design and this therefore simplifies the cleaning and disinfection process.

Integrated Conveyor Systems

In addition to the stand-alone versions, Multivac offers several integrated conveyor systems for pack converging, which are controlled by the machine control of the packaging machine. Their setting parameters can be saved in the product recipe. Multivac's integrated conveyor systems can converge between 60 and 200 packs per minute depending on the model.

Some of them are designed to eject reject packs and they can be equipped as an option with a metal detector.

In contrast to other detection solutions, MBS systems with metal detection have a very small space requirement.
