Restrictions Imposed On Russian Pork Imports

KAZAKHSTAN - Kazakhstan has imposed the restriction on the import of pork and other products from the Saratov and Orenburg regions of Russia, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan said.

The information regarding the source of African swine fever in the farming of village Kirsanovka in the Orenburg region was received on 9 December. The quarantine was introduced and 268 pigs were eliminated there.

The territorial inspectorates of Aktobe, Atyrau and West Kazakhstan regions were instructed to tighten the control over the movement of goods transited through the border from the neighboring Russian subjects.

The disinfection barriers for disinfecting the vehicles, coming from the neighboring Russian subjects, were set at nine auto transitions of the western regions.

"The restrictions on the import of all the types of controlled goods brought from the Saratov and Orenburg regions of the Russian Federation were imposed on Monday. The ban on import of goods from the Volgograd and Rostov regions operates from 13 October, this year. The notice regarding the ban on certificating controlled cargo from Russia is sent to the Rosselkhoznadzor," the Ministry of Agriculture said.

The clinical manifestations of the African swine fever among private holdings and businesses of Aktobe, Atyrau and West Kazakhstan regions were not revealed.
