Germany Organises World Pork Conference

14 March 2011

GERMANY - The German Meat Association (VDF) has announced that the 6th IMS World Pork Conference will be held in Germany for the first time on the 6 and 7 October 2011.

Every two years the International Meat Secretariat (IMS) awards the event to an IMS member.

This year’s World Pork Conference will be arranged and organised by VDF and German Meat GmbH and will be held in Bonn.

The German Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV) is supporting and promoting the conference.

Prestigious experts in the global meat industry, science and politics provide information on topics which shape the industry—from demand and product development, animal and environmental protection, to the needs of consumers.

Explanations of framework conditions will be included in the programme of events, given by government representatives from the countries who play a leading role in the production and consumption of pork.

Future developments will be elucidated in contributions by high-ranking representatives of international organisations, such as the World Organisation of Animal Health (OIE), the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), and the European Commission.

The increasing international significance of German pork production and its closer integration into international trade and global supply are emphasised by the choice of conference organiser.

Around 400 participants from all over the world are expected to discuss common issues concerning pork production and consumption.

The World Pork Conference 2011 and the programme of supporting events are a unique presentational and communicative platform with participants and experts from the international meat industry and associated product areas.

Information on the conference, conditions of participation and hotel bookings att discounted rates can be found at

The World Pork Conference is also an ideal prequel to ANUGA. The world’s leading food fair for the retail trade and the food service and catering market immediately follows the conference.
