Scan-Hide Takes Over Swedish International Kontrollhudar

SWEDEN - Scan-Hide has taken over the Swedish Kontrollhudar International (KHI), which is a 100 per cent owned subsidiary of Scan-Hide.

"We are glad that it finally managed to get a deal that will benefit both new and existing owners. With the consolidation of the Scan-Hide we become one of Europe's largest processors of hides and it is well placed to act in a highly competitive market," said President of Scan-Hide, Lorenz Hansen.

With the acquisition of KHI increases Scan-Hide commodity base with 30 percent and expects to process 1.2 million hides annually. KHI currently employs 31 employees and processes about 90 percent of the hides on the Swedish market.

In the longer term there will be a shift of a large part of the Swedish production to Denmark, said the CEO of Scan-Hide, Anders Autzen.

"The merger means that we get a volume, which forces us at sales page so we can match the big customers of both quantity and quality. Simultaneously, the total tonnage of the company to increase our competitiveness significantly," said Anders Autzen.
